Does Elderella record and transcribe every call my elder makes or receives?

No. Only calls to your elder's dedicated care number are recorded and transcribed; their personal number is never touched. Your elder's dedicated care number is a separate number you share with their doctors, pharmacy, and anyone whose calls you want captured.

Will my elder know their calls are being recorded and transcribed?

You decide whether to share this information with your elder. Anyone who calls the dedicated care number will be notified the call is recorded for caregiving purposes. This message plays before the call is connected to your elder's regular phone number.

Is recording calls legal?

Call recording laws vary by country, province, and state. In many places, recording is permitted when at least one party is aware. When someone calls the dedicated care number, Elderella lets them know the call is being recorded for caregiving purposes, handling the one-party consent requirement automatically.

Who can access the call recordings and transcripts?

Primary Caregivers on your elder's care team can listen to the calls and read the call transcripts. All recordings and transcripts are stored securely and are never shared outside your elder's primary care team. Learn how Elderella protects your data.

What if a suspicious call comes in?

Older adults are the most targeted group for phone-based financial fraud and phishing (FBI Elder Fraud Report, 2023). With calls being recorded and transcribed, you can listen to and read exactly what was said and respond right away — contact your elder, loop in your care team, or follow up however makes sense.

Older adults are the most targeted group for phone scams. With Unknown Caller Verification on, unknown numbers have to press 1 to get through, so most scam calls never reach your elder.

Any call that does get through is recorded and transcribed, so you’ll know what was said and can step in.

How it works

Get your elder’s care phone number

Elderella has a dedicated care phone number for your elder. On your elder’s home screen, tap “More”, then “Calls”, and then the settings dial in the top right corner of the Call Protection screen to find it.

Share it with their care providers

Give the phone number to their doctors, pharmacy, and anyone whose calls you want recorded and transcribed. Callers will be informed that the call is being recorded for caregiving purposes.

Get notified after every call

Your elder answers like any other call. The moment the call ends, the recording and transcription are shared with primary caregivers on their care team.

Call Protection is available in Plus and Premium plans

Unlike most Elderella features, Call Protection is not available in the Free Elderella plan.
